IRC126952Engineer II  Location: Providence, RI Travel: one trip per month – 25% (most of the travel will be to VA, some travel to CA (maybe 2 trips per year), international travel is available if you so desire) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Production Operations group at VeriSign is an internal group responsible for the administration of customer facing systems running VeriSign's Security products. We are looking for an enthusiastic administrator to join our team to support a wide array of applications and hardware. The primary hardware deployment is in our Broadrun, VA data center. Production Operations is responsible for all aspects of server administration in multiple data centers including hardware, OS and some portions of the application layer. You will be responsible for responding to tier-3 support escalations, troubleshooting technical problems, resolving data/configuration issues as well as work on build, deployment and infrastructure improvement projects. The environments you'll be helping to administer offers many challenging opportunities in managing a large number of widely differing servers and large data sets (SAN, NAS, etc.) as well as blade server architecture, virtualized servers, etc. We're seeking a self-motivated team player who brings a strong desire to learn the technologies which are new them and lead others in those which they are already well versed. KEY REQUIREMENTS:As an Engineer II, you will be assigned projects related to system builds, rollouts or infrastructure improvements. You might work individually, keeping management apprised of the project status through to project closure. Or, you might work with other technical team members under the direction of a project manager, collectively working towards successful completion of a project. This position requires a keen interest in understanding application code base and underlying systems infrastructure. You will work closely with multiple teams of senior systems administrators and engineers, Application Deployment, Sustaining Engineering, Networking, QA, and Engineering to resolve problems and prioritize bug fixes. You should be comfortable with multi-tasking, handling interrupts, and working with all levels of technical users and management.
