Introduction: 

The Legislative Technology Services Bureau (LTSB) is accepting applications for an Enterprise Systems Administrator on its Enterprise Operations Team, Madison. The position reports to the Enterprise Operations Manager. The LTSB provides support for all computing devices, information technology initiatives and software applications that support the Wisconsin State Legislature

The LTSB employs HP blade servers along with dual storage area networks (SAN) to handle primary and backup storage to support the Legislature. The LTSB is dedicated to provide a reliable service oriented technology foundation utilizing Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.

 

The LTSB is a nonpartisan legislative service agency in unclassified, non-represented state service and provides technical support and services to the Wisconsin Legislature and its agencies. Minimum salary is $50,000 depending on qualifications and experience, plus State of Wisconsin benefits.

 

Position Description: 

The Enterprise Systems Administrator supports and maintains Windows 2003 server systems, network services and appliances to support LTSB business operations.

Responsibilities include the daily management of Active Directory including Group Policy Objects, Software Deployment and account maintenance along with basic trouble shooting of server hardware and operating system issues.  This position is in part responsible for the enterprise exchange mail system including administration of MS Exchange 2003, public folder management, disaster recovery operations and procedures, proactive monitoring of all messaging operations, scheduled and unscheduled system maintenance.

The Enterprise Systems Administrator will be proactive and coordinate technologies between the Enterprise and Technical Support Teams in regards to desktop solutions or impact.

Critical success factors for this position require strong attention to detail, good communication, outstanding work ethic, thorough documentation skills, and a best practice methodology in the execution of all duties.

The Enterprise Systems Administrator will be required to stay current with new technologies through training and professional conferences and be responsible for other duties as assigned

 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·  Formal education in computer science, 4 years of relevant professional experience or combination of education, experience and certifications to effectively execute duties upon hire

·  Datacenter Backup and Recovery operations

·  Administration of Windows 2003 Server systems

·  Administration of VMWare ESX Server

·  Active Directory Services

·  Advanced networking concepts

·  Blade server environment experience

·  Knowledge of HP SAN concepts and methods

 

Additional Requirements:

·  Current MCSE or ability to obtain within 3 months

·  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

·  Strong analytical and problem solving skills

·  Able to work occasional nights and weekends to perform scheduled maintenance and system upgrades

·  Able to work under deadlines

·  Strong commitment to quality customer service

·  Willing and able to work in a nonpartisan environment
