Facilities Engineer
Summary:
The Facilities Engineer is an important part of the facilities management team and works within in a framework of standardized systems and procedures.
Required Responsibilities:
•Participate in the design, maintenance, and management of multiple raised floor areas that house diverse computer platforms and networks.
•Develop and monitor the implementation of systems for the facility, to include raised floor activity such as installation of racks, cabling, wiring, servers and HVAC for the Data Center.
•Act as internal point of contact for the implementation of systems for the facility.
•Schedule facility-related activities and service/request calls to include all power generator, back-up systems and all related tests and inspections.
•Act as main point of contact for facilities and equipment repairs with outside contractors and vendors.
•Responsible for the acquisition of materials, services and equipment as required to maintain the functionality of the Data Center.
•Participate and assist in the development of an inventory management process
•This position may include some On-Call hours or off-shift assignments
Additional skills desired:
•This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong communication and customer service skills and the ability to achieve productive working relationships with other functional areas within the organization.
•The ability to work independently.
•Provide project management assistance with office renovations, space planning services, staff relocations, and internal facility upgrades and employee shifts.
Education/Training/Certifications Required:
•Bachelors degree in mechanical or facilities engineering.
•Experienced in the operations of a Data Center or a related facility experience.
Work Experience Required:
•5+ years of successful experience in area of responsibility with an emphasis on facilities engineering services or the equivalent.
•A Strong working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office tools: Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Peoplesoft or other electronic purchasing system.
•Experience working in a Data Center or related facility.
Work Experience Desired:
•10 + years of successful experience in area of responsibility.
•Contract Management experience.
•Vendor Management experience.
Job Family Responsibilities:
Completes complex inspection of facilities and evaluates related operational, environmental, and safety issues and procedures. Coordinates internal and/or external resources to develop facility layouts/specifications or completes facility-related programs/processes. Performs complex facility-related remodeling and/or upgrading. Completes service calls/requests regarding complex maintenance activities or other facility-related procedures to ensure completion. Performs complex work environmental studies (lighting, air circulation, industrial hygiene, etc.) Consults with general management in developing/implementing complex maintenance, rework and repair strategies and implement new procedures. Performs review of purchase orders for facility-related maintenance contracts and capital expenditures.
