Ultimately, this position is located on Andros Island, Bahamas. Responsible for operating of heavy equipment in the Roads and Grounds Department.Essential Job Functions Perform daily operational safety and maintenance checks on all heavy equipment used and assigned to the department. Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner following all safety procedures and guidelines. Clean equipment as required. Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored. Participate in routine maintenance of equipment as required and advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repair. Respond to customer concerns regarding scheduling and quality of service. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications High school diploma AA/AS or Trade School in a related field preferred. Five (5) years related experience working with heavy equipment in a similar environment. Knowledgeable in the operation of bull dozers, heavy forklifts, rollers, front-end loaders, back hoes and all attachments. Knowledge of agricultural tractors and attachments also required. Driver's License and Passport required. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain one upon hire required. Heavy equipment certifications and licenses also required.Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance Other Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work extended hours as required. Ability to work in all kinds of weather, including extreme heat. Ability to work on uneven terrain. Must be able to work in an environment with some exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes and orders. Excellent oral and written communication skills Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
