IT Engineer - Coastal NC

We are currently looking for an Information Technology Engineer in the New Bern, NC.  If you meet the following criteria we would love to talk with you…

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A. Education.  Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field required.  Extensive experience in data processing field with hardware and software knowledge can substitute for formal education.

B.  Skills/Training.  Needs to have 3-5 years network administration/engineering experience with  MS, Dell and HP front and back end computer equipment, servers and software.  In addition, must have excellent organizational skills and communication skills.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

A. Hardware.  General knowledge of all hardware associated with the computer systems, including Dell and HP servers, Dell printers, and Cisco switches (3790/3690).

B.  Software.  Working knowledge from a Systems Engineering standpoint including MS Office 2003, MS Server 2003, MS SQL 2005, MS Exchange Server, Citrix Presentation Server and other enterprise applications.

C.  Overall Operation.  Take steps to insure that system operates at optimum efficiency, with minimal downtime.  Troubleshooting both software and hardware complications on network and for end users.

D.  Vendors.  Communicate effectively with various hardware and software vendors.  Evaluate products for firm applications; set up demonstrations, etc.

E.  Other.  The position is expected to be a strong backup to the Information Technology Coordinator, and to perform the duties of the Information Technology Coordinator in their absence.  Ability to work extended hours, nights and weekends on an irregular basis.
