IT Field Service Technician - Desktop Computers & Servers

 

 

Our client employs IT experts who have conducted needs analysis surveys, system design implementation, support, consulting, company moves, and training for clients in NYC & on Long Island.

 

You must have a reliable car and clean drivers license. Experience and versatility will be key to your success in this position. You must have vast experience working with multiple platforms, applications, OS since you will be making in-person service and maintenance calls to many different clients with different criteria. All candidates will be tested at their initial interview.

 

 

Job Description:

 

* To design and implement and support new Windows Server/Client Network for small to midsized businesses. Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, e-mail systems and Microsoft SQL Servers is a must.

* To configure, implement and maintain Network devices such as routers, switches & firewalls (including Cisco & Sonicwall).

* Configure, implement and maintain wireless Network for clients (including Cisco Aeronet). Provide regular maintenance, including checking logs and back-ups.

* Provide in-person, remote, phone and e-mail general IT support to clients.

* Technically proficient and demonstrate outstanding customer service.

* Proactively solve problems and recommend preventative options to head off future problems. Troubleshoot and find permanent solutions for client issues; and temporary work-arounds when necessary.

* Work with the team (including IT Manager, Engineers, Office Manager, Account Manager, Project Manager, COO and President)

* Record hours worked for each client immediately after work is performed in PTG website

* Effectively communicate with IT Manager and Clients as to status of work at the beginning of, during and at the end of visit.

* Attend conference call Staff Meetings each week.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Please Apply Only If You Meet 80% of Following) Experience Requirements:

 

* Minimum of 5+ years of IT experience

* Must have background in IT consulting supporting different Network configurations

* Analyzing and determining specifications for small to midsized businesses Network

* Design a Network and propose Network upgrades

* Excellent troubleshooting skills

 

Hardware Requirements:

* Advanced experience configuring, implementing and maintaining Network equipment including Cisco Routers and Switches

* Advanced experience configuring, implementing and maintaining Servers (mostly Dell; HP, IBM, etc.)

* Advanced experience configuring, implementing and maintaining Wireless Network Devices (Cisco Aeronet, Linksys)

* Advanced experience configuring, implementing and maintaining Storage Systems (SCSI, RAID, SATA, and SAN) and Backup Systems (Removable Hard Drives, Robots & Tape Drives)

* Advanced experience with Network Cabling (CAT5 & CAT6 Ethernet, and Telephone)

* Advanced experience configuring, implementing and maintaining Network Firewalls and VPN Clients (Cisco PIXs, Sonicwall, etc.)

* Knowledge of Linux Servers and/or Apple servers and desktops (preferred)

 

Software Requirements:

* Advanced experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server, including Active Directory, Group Policies, File Security, DNS, DHCP

* Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003

* Experience implementing and supporting Backup Solutions (e.g. Veritas, ArcServe, Windows Backup and Retrospect)

* Experience implementing and supporting MS Terminal Services and Citrix

* Familiarity with Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2005

* Advanced experience supporting Windows 2000 & XP desktops

* Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Project, Visio)

 

Other Skill Requirements:

* Experience as a Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Architect, Network Design, Network Administrator

* Experience with project management

* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff in difficult or conflictive situations

* Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively

* Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances

* Proficient with online and other resources for software and hardware research and troubleshooting

 

* Emergency On Call Required

* Travel Required - Must be able to travel around, Nassau, Suffolk and NYC and have reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance.

 

Recommend Certifications: CCNA, MCSE, MCP
