IT Operations Scheduler

Description:
 
Position is responsible for production scheduling tasks, in a client server environment, including coordinating scheduling requests using TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler). Work includes updating databases and setting calendars in the TWS product. Resolve scheduling problems working with systems support staff. Ensure the daily production schedules and tasks are completed accurately and timely and procedures are followed. Perform a variety of general support duties related to data center operations. Applies knowledge of organization, products, business processes, and technology gained through on the job training and experience.
 
- Develop and support Winbatch programs to support automated operations initiatives
- Develops production schedules to meet customer requirements and operational guidelines. Adjusts daily schedules according to daily requests. Assist in operations scheduling.
- Coordinate between groups implementing changes and the production support function
- Coordinates and assists with troubleshooting and resolution of production problems with support personnel using department notification, escalation, tracking, and reporting procedures.

- Provide 2nd level troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex scheduling applications
- Evaluates vendor products to determine those which meet business needs and present findings to management.
- Provide support for vendor products as required.
- Assists in the analysis and development of complex automation requests
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements by working with operations and customers 
- Provides TWS scheduling and Winbatch automation support, facilitation, and delivers operator process feedback to the automation team.
- Manage small to medium size projects using the client project management model as required
- Inform day-to-day operations team of changes to the environment
- Publish and implement procedures for production scheduling, automation, and ancillary support applications, processes, and tasks.
- Provide after hours/weekend/holiday on call support when scheduled
- Intermediate understanding and familiarity of Windows technology and terminology
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provides assistance to the operations manager with process improvements, documentation, procedures, programming, and automation projects
- Participates in application projects and tasks

Skills/Education/Experience:
 
* Bachelors degree in information technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience
* 4+ years experience in providing data center production scheduling support
* 1+ years experience in providing data center operations support
* 1+ years experience in development and maintenance of automation scripts
* Understanding of Client server related technology
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of automated software tools in operations area
* Interface effectively with customer and applications teams
* Good communication skills, written and verbal. Keep others informed of relevant information on a timely basis.
* Revise and implement operating procedures for most efficient performance
* Knowledge of techniques used in project management and application programming
* Diagnosing and resolving production support problems
