Our direct client is a global services firm.  They are supporting a large scale initiative for a major client of theirs.  To help achieve this end, they are seeking a subject matter expert in Informix Database Administration

 

General Functions:

 

1) DBA Informix skills
2) Informix Engine Knowledge-Analyze/Fix problems
3) Ability to come Onsite for Vacations/emergency/meetings; as appropriate.




Client trying to get good Informix people. Last 3 months had Informix issues (7.3.2 - 5-6 years old - end of life in 6 months), have no intention of upgrading, no fix available, causing nightmares, site goes down, struggling with support and debugging, recycling engine sometimes. Need Level 2-3 type person.

More performance and troubleshooting issues that they are lacking in knowledge of application.

Need 9-5 - 5 days a week for DBA support. Need L2-3 Support. Possible one year project - 18 months. Remote possibly or on call. (no sequal coding or debugging, no data design).

Need System Programmer on Database, handles running system, DB space allocations. Deals with run time (not writing applications). Physical DBA - takes care of DB itself.

MQ and mainframe it talks to. Struggling because application causes so many errors. Person would be monitoring and reacting to problems. Need Database Administration skills too.

Need remote monitoring and troubleshooting (from the Informix engine on out) - IDEAL SOLUTION FOR CUSTOMER. Looking at May timeframe for resource to be onsite.

 

Please have recent experience in Informix DBA /Support type of work

I am open on rates and payments terms (w2, 1099, Subcontract and Corp. to Corp terms will all work for this client).  I would vastly prefer to have people on my w2 for simplicity’s sake. 

While there is an option to a right to hire, it is not probable.
