Responsibilities:As a Information Architect within a Federal Enterprise Architecture Program, you will have the following opportunities:
- Provide data analysis and mapping support. You will identify data that is used to support the business process; map the data elements the client’s line of business areas; and standardize data element name in accordance to ISO 11179, Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Data Reference Model (DRM) and the client’s data standardization guidelines.
- Assist with development, implementation and maintenance of Data Architecture governance processes. You will assist in writing policies and procedures, participate in collaboration activities that include participating in inter-agency data harmonization and standardization group meetings. You will also work to identify data artifacts from other agencies that can be reused by DOI.
- Support Data Quality Initiatives. You will prepare documents and support meetings on a variety of data quality initiatives that includes Authoritative Data Source.
- Be the ‘master’ data modeler for the client’s DRM. You will maintain the client’s DRM which involves facilitating iterative validation meetings with data stewards, loading data models into client’s EA repository, providing line of business or subject area modeling, and maintaining inventory of line of business data objects and schemas, and maintaining the client’s Metadata Registry.
- You will be looked upon to:(1) provide advice on data resource management standards, modeling methods, and practical uses for the Data Resource Management and Standardization Guidance; (2) develop education and training material for Data Architecture and Data Resource Management Standardization Programs; and (3) provide support to federated inter-agency working groups.
Qualifications:We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience implementing and supporting a enterprise Data Resource Management and Standardization programs in one or more federal government agencies.
- Extensive understanding of and experience applying Data Governance best practices and experience supporting Enterprise Data Architecture in one or more federal government agencies.
- At least 5 years of experience in System Development Life Cycle which includes structured analysis and data design methodologies.
- At least 3 years of data tools and methodology experience that includes activity modeling, data analysis, data modeling and data quality.
- Extensive experience with generating data models based on lines of business or subject areas and to mapping models to FEA DRM.
- Experience with leading and facilitating working groups and collaboration sessions to gain consensus and set agreed upon goals and objectives.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in team environments in high pressure situations
- At least 3-5 years consulting experience supporting federal agency clients.
- Willingness to travel. Most of the work can be performed in Chantilly. However, the candidate may be required to travel into DC to meet with client and attend collaboration/steering committee meetings. On a quarterly basis, you may be required to travel to Denver.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field and 5 years of IT experience
Principal Staff are regarded as experts in their domain, have general knowledge of other domains, provide technical guidance within their area of expertise, and recommend domain-specific technical solutions and policies. This staff level performs at the project and program level and may lead tasks or projects in their area of expertise.
