 INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST II

$50,304 - $61,152 annually*

*3.4% salary increase effective April 28, 2008

 

Qualified individuals are invited to apply for this limited-term (approximately two years) position in the District’s Information Systems Division.  Under general supervision of the Information Systems Administrator (Webmaster), the Information Systems Specialist II (ISSS II) will be responsible for providing a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the District’s internal and external websites, as well as assist in the support of critical intranet systems and related activities. Typical duties may include:

Ø Implementing and maintaining content management procedures, methods and tools;

Ø Developing and maintaining website standards;

Ø Developing and running website Quality Assurance and Usability tests and standards;

Ø Monitoring and responding to website user feedback and complaints;

Ø Integrating internal and external business applications with internet and intranet websites;

Ø Researching, testing, evaluating, and implementing website enhancements, or new feature requests;

Ø Researching and evaluating third party services and applications;

Ø Reviewing website traffic and usage; and

Ø Performing related website maintenance work as needed.

 

The position requires both completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent; and two years of experience in administrative or clerical experience which has provided knowledge of computer technology and basic data processing experience.  Candidates must also demonstrate the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job and be willing to work occasional overtime as needed.

 

In addition, the most competitive candidates will have the following:Knowledge of browser coding skills including HTML, CSS, Javascript, and XML;Web content familiarity and experience (i.e. design, integrating content from multiple sources, change control, integrating third party products into content);Knowledge of Web 2.0 user interface technology (Flash, AJAX, etc.);Exposure to server side programming languages;Proven ability to master new technologies;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of contacts both within and outside an organization; Extreme attention to detail; andAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with interruptions.
