Information Technology Services has an opening for an Information Technology Analyst 1 (Visualization Services) for its Tier-1 Visualization Services Center. The primary objective of the Tier-1 Visualization Services Center is to significantly advance the level of knowledge, skills, and interest in visualization tools and techniques among the students, faculty and staff at LSU. The center will strive to enhance their academic experience and research through the availability of quality visualization capabilities and training. The Visualization Services Analyst will have a unique opportunity to design and implement training material and sessions, provide user support and to install and maintain visualization systems. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline; excellent oral and written communications skills; proven ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations on specialized topics. Additional Qualifications Desired: Prior experience with visualization software; experience with varied datasets; interest in visualization; strong desire to work with all kinds of interesting people, hardware and software related to that field; prior experience with (some or all of the following): visualization with varied datasets, two mainstream Viz. packages, computer graphics, image processing, graphic design, web-design, making demos, and multiple hardware architectures and operating systems including installations and configuration; programming/scripting background with an emphasis on tool development/customization; willingness to learn and support visualization software and systems that are adopted by the campus community; an eye for presentation and the ability to showcase the center and its facilities/work/prospects to the campus community, through an active web presence as well as at various events; skill in the following areas: C/C++, Java, FORTRAN; MATLAB, IDL, Mathematica, Perl, Python, BASH, OpenGL/DirectX, IPP, CUDA, Amira/Avizo, AVS, VTK, Paraview, VisIt, Maya, OSIRIX, VRJuggler, VMD, NAMD, TecPlot, Ensight, FieldView, Kraken, Linux (RHEL/other distribution), Windows XP/Vista (32/64 bit), Mac OS X, Parallels/ Xen/VMWare Virtualization, Stereo Projection Systems, VR Tracking, Fabbers. Responsibilities: performs daily operations of the Visualization Lab consisting of: workstations, projection systems, displays, software licensing and installations, and resource scheduling; provides visualization related support for faculty, students and staff; helps develop training material, demos, presentations and web-site content.
