Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-5/7/9 (Tier I)

NAVFAC Northwest is looking for exceptional individuals seeking an intern Tier 1 Helpdesk/Customer Support position in the Chief Information Office. We are utilizing the Navy Career Intern Program (NCIP) to fill the following position:

Positions: Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-5/7/9 (Tier I); 1 Perm/FT vacancy

Location: NAVFAC Northwest, Chief Information Office, Bangor, WA

These positions are ideal for highly motivated people with a blend of information technology and business skills. Tier 1 -- Helpdesk environment; Skill in customer service, handling multiple tasks, problem resolution and customer relationships.

Starting Salary: $36K starting pay ($43K after the 1st year, $50K after 2nd year upon completion of internship.)

Qualification Requirements:

A. Education: Baccalaureate Degree preferably in -- computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering.

Navy Career Intern Program: This is a formal, two-year paid internship with the Department of Navy. Those selected for the positions will receive formal and on-the-job instruction and training to familiarize you with technical programs, work techniques, and operating procedures, and to provide experience in Information Technology and application support. Individuals successfully completing the program may be non-competitively converted to career or career-conditional appointment. This recruitment may provide a return right provision for Navy career/career conditional employees (ONLY), who accept intern positions within Navy but do not successfully complete the training program.

VETERANS' PREFERENCE: A 5-point preference is granted to veterans claiming preference who entered military service prior to October 14, 1976, or who served in a military action for which they received a Campaign Badge or Expeditionary Medal, or who served on active duty during the Gulf War from August 2, 1990 through January 2, 1992 and who served continuously for a minimum of 24 months, or for the full period for which called or ordered to active duty.
