Instructional Technologist

Franklin College is seeking to fill a full-time 12-month staff position reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services.



 The Instructional Technologist consults with faculty on the broad spectrum of available educational technologies, helps to assemble and manage effective technology environments for instruction, and introduces developing technologies having demonstrable pedagogical value across the liberal arts curriculum.

 

Responsibilities Include

· Serve as campus expert on instructional design, course transformation, and facility and learning space design

· Work closely with individual faculty members and departments to develop instructional resources and services, including design and delivery of instructional design services, and promotion of the use of technology in instruction

· Responsibility for supervising student employees

 

Requirements

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a technology area or other applicable field

· Experience incorporating technology and media to enhance instructional methods

· Knowledge of effective teaching techniques and curriculum development

· Knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies and the ability to articulate their value to a diverse audience

· Excellent presentation, interpersonal, listening and writing skills

 

Other preferred skills

· Experience with several multimedia software applications and tools, both for Windows and Mac

· Experience with web applications that foster collaboration among users

· Experience with course/learning management systems such as Angel, Blackboard, WebCT

· Prior experience in higher education environment
