Java Application Developer

Job Description

The Application Developer is an experienced IT professional who can work effectively and comfortably in all application development phases including analysis, design, program development and testing.  Position responsibilities include working with Business Analysts and users to define and document functional requirements; working with other IT staff to create and document a technical design; developing code to meet the design requirements; testing individual units of code as they are developed; participating in the functional and system integration testing processes; and participating in bug resolution of both new and existing code.  Additionally the Application Developer should support the business with solutions and suggestions for new development tools for business process automation, control and reporting.Essential FunctionsCollaborate with Business Analyst to develop System requirementsParticipate in creation and/or review of Functional requirements specificationsCreate/review technical designs that satisfy functional requirements.Develop and unit test code to satisfy technical designs.Participate in system testing as necessary and rework code to resolve issues. Document each step of application developmentWork with Project Analysts to establish work-effort estimates for each portion of a development projectParticipate in all aspects of development project reviews along with peer review of other developers’ code and technical design.RequirementsShould have a BA/BS degree with 4-8 years experience in a relevant programming environment.  In addition, a minimum of 2-4 years business enterprise systems and processes experience is essential.  Strong functional knowledge of our industry practices and technologies is desirable.Detail oriented, with high levels of analytical and organizational skillsAbility to support a 7x24 production environmentProducts/technologies:4+ years programming experience, with at least 2 years object-oriented programming in Java or C++/C#2+ years experience designing and implementing HTML markup for Netscape and Microsoft browsers2+ years experience designing and implementing web applications using JSP/JavaScript/Java (J2EE) Solid understanding of HTML 4.01 and JavaScript client side programmingExperience with formal development tools, preferably JDeveloperExperience with MVC design pattern a plus.Experience with Apache Struts a plus.Oracle database and applications experience a plus
