Java Software Engineer

Job Title: Java Software Engineer

Location: Longmont, CO 80501

 

Position Summary:

Create storage management software that will manage a state of the art persistent storage array with a browser based approach. Start from the ground up with no pre-existing web application and no intentions to port the existing application to web, true green field. If you thrive in this environment we are looking for you. .

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Building AJAX-rich application (see progress screen + search results on kayak.com).

- Implement features on schedule, with high quality.

- Implement unit and integration tests.

- Manage bug list for all development milestones.

- Collaborate with fellow engineers to develop simple, robust solutions; perform code reviews.

- Thrive in a startup environment. No hand holding here!

- Ability to work with hardware to get status and alert information

- Create UI abstractions of complex systems so admins know what is going on

- Ability to create iterative designs using software engineering best practices

 

Required Education, Experience and Abilities:

- BS or BA degree, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education, training or work experience required. Advance degree helpful.

- 5+ years of development experience

- 2+ years using Java in the web tier (JSP and Servlets, Struts or Spring)

- Experience designing and implementing web applications employing AJAX, XHTML and CSS

- Strong, demonstrable understanding of standards-compliant coding practices

- Ability to deliver a consistent user experience across multiple web browsers

- Strong background in user interaction design for web-based applications

- Candidate must be able to effectively convey information and work well in a structured environment with other team members

- Great communication skills.
