Junior Software Engineer - Technologist

In the role of Junior Software Engineer – Technologist, the selected candidate will work closely with a Senior Configuration Management Engineer and be responsible for supporting the entire Configuration Management (CM) process.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

- Server and infrastructure configuration and maintenance

- Software builds and deployments

- Software release definition and management

- CM process definition and implementation

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Our Requirements:

- A basic understanding of current IT technologies including hardware and software, as well as a familiarity with the software development lifecycle

- Candidates must be highly intelligent, responsible and self-motivated

- Background in IT and Computer Science

- Prefer candidates with 1-4 years industry experience

- Able to work typical industry hours as well as available for weekend and off-hour support

- Fast learner able to assimilate existing technologies and the CM process in an accelerated timeframe.

 

Desirable Skills:

- College graduate or equivalent work experience and/or certifications (extensive work experience not required)

- Strong emphasis on Unix and open source technologies

- At least one year of working experience with the following or similar technologies is required:

 

- System administration

Linux

Korn and Bash shell scripting

 

- Software development

Java/J2EE

MySQL

Perl and CGI

 

- Configuration Management

Bugzilla

ANT

CVS

 

Additional experience with the following technologies is preferred:

- AIX System Administration

- Oracle Administration

- RedHat Linux
