Junior" Windows Server Network Engineer

 

We are a small firm in Galveston County with an immediate opening for a junior network engineer. On a daily basis you will work on multiple Windows 2003 Servers, SQL Servers, and Exchange Servers. Software you will manage will include Symantec anti-virus and BackupExec. You will often manage networks, servers, and workstations remotely. You will help plan and execute server upgrades and replacements.

 

This firm has an excellent reputation and has been in Galveston County for almost 15 years.

 

Your responsibilities will include ...• Ensure the stable operation of servers, networks, and workstations.• Diagnose and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely fashion, sometimes remotely. • Manage file system security.• Verify that backups are being accomplished.• Active Directory and Group Policy management.• Accomplish server software upgrades, or provide assistance with same. • Accomplish workstation upgrades, sometimes remotely.

 

Who are we looking for?• Someone who has some experience with Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Group Policies.• Someone who has some experience with SQL Server and Exchange Server.• Someone who has some experience using hard-disk imaging software.• Someone who can read and interpret event-logs. • A self-motivated self-starter who is capable of successfully working with little or no supervision.• A quick-learner - someone who can quickly learn new applications.• A good problem-solver - someone who can quickly (and accurately!) diagnose software/hardware problems, and can then quickly solve them. • Someone who is constantly looking for problems before they turn into real problems and can then quickly resolve them before they happen. (Management tends to regard such individuals as heroes.)
