We currently have several openings for LAN Planners to work at a large client located in the Greater Detroit region.  Our customer is a recognized leader in the automotive industry. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

¨  Responsible for the logical and physical design of LAN's using the latest approved technologies.

¨  Consult with LAN center of excellence (COE), LAN Review board, Network Engineering, and Global Design Review board to ensure implementations meet or exceed networking standards.

¨  Interface with systems business management, plant IT managers, and site managers to determine project scope and timing requirements.

¨  Provide high-level technical support to on site and central operations/support personnel.

¨  Coordinate the efforts of multiple activities to develop and implement standard designs, support processes, and strategies.

¨  Responsible for the overall design of the LAN as well as submission of necessary change controls to implement approved designs. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 

¨  Should be able to work well with customers in all business areas, reporting project status to management, and prioritizing workload.

¨  Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies is required.

¨  Extensive knowledge of Cisco IOS is required.

¨  Extensive knowledge of Cisco L2 / L3 switching technologies required.

¨  In depth knowledge of Ethernet (10/100/1000) Switching required.

¨  Knowledge of basic networking and IP protocols.

¨  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, Microsoft Project and Visio required.

¨  Strong project management skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills required. 

 

Education Required

 

¨  Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related technical field. Equivalent experience will be considered.

¨  One or more Cisco Certifications or equivalent experience is highly desirable (CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP or CCIE).
