LAN/WAN Service Technician (GroupWise Service Technician)

Description: Want to work in a GroupWise environment with 70 Netware servers and 15 windows servers that support 7300 Dell workstations and an EMC SAN?  Approximately 30,000 user accounts, 40 sites, connected with a gigabit fiber connection.

 

The LAN/WAN Technician (GroupWise Service Technician) develops and maintains systems that store, manipulate and retrieve information for all school district employees, students and the public. Aids in the planning, research, implementation and maintenance of technologies to meet district needs.  Maintains core and central district systems, including GroupWise, Novell NetWare, Novell ZENWorks, Linux and E-Directory.  Recommends standards to Supervisor Networking Technology.  Provides secondary technical support to PC/LAN Support Technicians for district systems. 

 

Qualifications: Three years experience configuring, administrating and supporting Novell GroupWise e-mail, including experience with current versions of GroupWise.  Must have current CNE certification.  Ability to manage and maintain an E-Directory tree and objects and to install and integrate Netware 6.5 and Windows 2000/2003 servers.  Able to read and interpret technical documents.  Able and willing to learn new technologies quickly. Able to meet deadlines. Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Current industry certifications in network operating systems and supporting areas.  Certification and/or experience planning, implementing and supporting the following enterprise support applications or operating systems:  Linux AS, Cisco, SAN (EMC), GroupWise, Commvault, Solaris, Windows Servers and/or Linux (CLE).
