Blue Shield of California is currently seeking several experienced Business Intelligence experts to drive the strategy, implementation and development of enterprise wide Business Intelligence capabilities. As one of the company's top business priorities, this initiative has high visibility and strong executive sponsorship. This position acts as the single point of accountability to plan, direct and coordinate moderately complex, medium-sized business intelligence projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished with high quality, within established time frames and budget, and meet customer and/or business needs with focus on delivery of new or existing internal/external capabilities and/or products.
Knowledge of key data warehousing components and concepts, ETL processes, data quality and reporting.
Creates and reviews project proposal or plans and sets project objectives.
Manages scope and scope change requests.
Completes cost/benefit analysis.
Plans and directs schedules and budgets.
Monitors projects form initiation through delivery and monitors for continuous improvement.
Analyzes, interprets and derives meaning from data.
Identifies and develops contingency plans to mitigate and address risks.
Takes responsibility for benefits realization and meeting milestone and budget targets.
Develops new project management tools and methods.
Administratively closes out projects.
Assembles the project team, assigns and monitors work of team members and provides guidance and leadership.
Communicates with and influences internal and external stakeholders on project steps and objectives.
Trains, develops, coaches and mentors other team members.
Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years cross-functional, cross-disciplinary project management and business analysis experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience writing business requirements.
Experience managing complex projects with multi-month timelines.
Exposure to organization change and communication issues.
Knowledge of the key components of project management (e.g.-scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, integration) and associated tools and methodologies.
Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Preferred experience: executing strategic business plans, managing complex projects, managing organization change and communication, process improvement, supervisory, consulting and/or multi-discipline experience.
Insurance industry or health care experience helpful.
Project management certification (e.g.- PMI) desirable.
Quality management experience (e.g.- Six Sigma) desirable.
This position could be hired at the Senior Project Manager level based on Blue Shield's assessment process.
