Lead Data Modeler
Affinity Health Plan, an independent, growing, not-for-profit managed care company designed specifically to serve the needs of low-income New Yorkers, needs a Lead Data Modeler for its Systems Integration Department. As part of your responsibilities, you will optimize the management, utilization, and quality of data through the logical and physical multi-dimensional design of the business intelligence/decision support and analytical systems environments to include the Corporate Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, Data Marts, and other relational data repositories.
As part of your daily responsibilities, you will:
Spearhead the analysis and design effort of the enterprise data warehouse framework, data and metadata models.Solicit, identify, and analyze business requirements, facilitating group sessions to clarify business rules and data design requirements, whenever necessary.Work with business users to understand reporting and analysis requirements to create and update the existing data model and system infrastructure.Participate throughout the project life cycle from requirements gathering to production implementation with emphasis on database designEstablish and enforce enterprise data warehouse architecture standards, including table structures, naming conventions, key definition and generation, optimization, etc. Translate requirements and business rules into data structures within the Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture frameworkDevelop conceptual, logical and physical data models for application databases, the data warehouse and data marts. Create Enity Relationships nd dimensional models. Identify data and associated processes. Identify entities, attributes, metrics, and relationships, assign keys and optimize the model. Define data such as data types, sizes, and defaults. Ensure data integrity by using business rules and establishing validation checks.Accommodate requests for data structures in the enterprise data architecture.Perform impact analysis on required changes to data and data structures matrix.Perform other duties as necessary or required.
Must-have qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare informatics, or other area in combination with significant Healthcare experience, or equivalent knowledge. Masters degree preferred.Minimum of 6 years of related experience as Business Intelligence & Analytics Data Modeler, including demonstrated success managing a data warehouse development project through a full life cycle Includes the definition, architecture, development, data integrity, delivery (including front end) and subsequent support of successful data warehouse,, and reporting systems. Must have detailed understanding of principals and practices of Data Modeling including concepts, entity-relationship data modeling techniques, and object-to-relational mapping techniquesAbility to work in a matrix management infrastructureMust be well-versed in data warehouse design methodologies and architecturesMust have strong SQL programming skills, and experience with SQL databases, DB2 UDB ESE DPF (aka EEE), mySQL, etc.Must have experience with Industry-standard modeling tools such as ERwin and Embarcadero ERStudioMust have ability to highlight issues/problems and convey complex thoughts, written and oral, in a clear, concise, and timely mannerMust have proficient knowledge of Business Intelligence & Analytics processes and techniquesMust have solid knowledge and experience with data normalization and denormalizationMust have proficiency in designing OLAP cubes, complex data structures, etc.Must have experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML)Must have experience in the Application Service Provider industry (SAS, Business Objects, etc…)Must have experience with DB2 UDB, SQL databases and ETLMust have experience with business process modeling/re-engineering techniquesProven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully lead and facilitate technical meetings and discussionsProven ability to manage relationships and expectations with other departmentsStrong organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills as demonstrated by the ability to think critically and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills required to understand technical operations, processes and functions, compile and interpret appropriate data, and identify technical solutions to resolve specific technical operations issues. Excellent project and time management skills in coordinating multiple projects with various platforms, applications and environments.Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, as well as effectively as a member of a team.Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, plan and implement technical solutions to achieve those goals and meet deadlines.Strong interpersonal and consultative skills required to sustain critical internal and external relationships and activities.Demonstrated ability to work resourcefully and creatively, to think independently, and to exercise independent judgment in defining or refining techniques in a complex and dynamic technical environment. Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and Internet.High level of integrity.
