Lead Developer - Supervisor

(ASI) meets the Information Technology solutions needs of our customers and partners.A minority owned business enterprise; we provide a complete breadth of distributed IT solutions.As a leading IT Services and Solutions Provider for Fortune 2000 companies, utilities, health institutions, universities, original equipment manufacturers, systems integrators, and resellers, ASI relies on project managers, consultants and technical staff with over two decades of industry experience in helping enterprises become more efficient and responsive to mission and market needs.Description - the primary role of the Lead Developer is to work closely with the Directory of IT to plan, executive, and finalize development build cycle/releases.  The candidate will set the technical direction for the team and will serve as the lead architect and primary technical resource for all development and maintenance tasks.  This role also includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.  The Lead Developer will also work closely with the IT Director to define the project objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

 

Responsibilities:This position has two areas of responsibilitySupervise a team of 4 - 6 developers and QA Analysts in the development of application solutions.  This includes providing technical guidance and mentoring to the development team.Perform technical tasks related to development life cycles.  These tasks include database design, objected-oriented design, visual basic and java coding.  The Lead Developer will also be required to perform code and QA reviews and develop technical documentation based on industry standards.The supervisory roles includes the following responsibilities:Work closely with the Director of IT to plan development releases (aka builds), delivery and manage development tasks.Work closely with business managers to define release contents.Develop project schedules and associated communications documents.Create technical and resource estimates for new development tasks.Manage the build cycles by effectively communicating expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely manner and clear fashion.Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and business managers.Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.Identify and manage release dependencies and critical path.Manage changes in release scope, identify potential crisis, and devise contingency plans.Deliver progress reports on a weekly basis.Conduct release post mortems and creat a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful release elements.Develop best practices and tools for release execution.The technical role includes the following responsibilities:Develop high level technical design for all tasksWork closely with the database administrator to define requirements and design database objects.Analyze requirements and define technical designs, including class objects and process flows.Develop prototype classes and other base class objects.Develop visual basic java classes.Lead the team in the maintenance of requirements and technical documentation.

Position Requirements:University degree or college diploma in the field of Computer technology.6-8 years work experience in an object oriented development environment, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or team lead role.Proven development experience with visual basic.net and java.Database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL server.Competent and proficient understanding of platforms, load balancing, web farms, web development and multi-tier environments.Proven working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including Java Apache, STRUTS, Dot Net and Crystal Reports.Demonstrated experience in personnel management.Technical competent with various software IDE's such as SQL Server Studio, Visual Studio, .Net, Visual Source Safe and Eclipse.Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.is flexible and can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines though analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to relate to and supervise team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.Must be a self-starter who is able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.Excellent customer services skills.Ability to effectively prioritize and executive tasks is crucial.
