Lead Oracle/SQL DBA

Lead DBA - The Database Administrator Lead will serve on the DBA team, supporting Oracle, SQL Server and/or DB2 systems and provide technical leadership to the team. This position will provide direction to the team for database logical and physical design, support, and back-up recovery activities. Leadership skills should include the ability to command respect from technical staff, project management experience and good organizational skills.*This is a contract to hire opportunityPosition Responsibilities1. Manages technical projects in the BI group.2. Provides research on new technology and leads innovation particular to database technology for the group.3. Manages database design, and advise the production DBA group on performance tuning and environment maintenance.4. Manages and develop logical data models and ERWIN metadata documentation.5. Performs performance tuning and capacity planning activities.6. Leads research, planning and implementation of new database installations, upgrades and patches.7. Monitor systems capacity for existing requirements and plans for future needs.8. Facilitates root cause analysis on database issues, and mentors DBAs.9. Establishes and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to BI database management, in conjunction with corporate DBA group.10. Works closely with application project, systems and corporate DBA teams on all issues related to databases.11. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related engineering discipline or equivalent experience required 8+ years of IT experience, including database design and implementation Project management experience. Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive monitoring and problem solving High level of experience with very large database management environment. Management of data warehouse systems, including design of star schemas, materialized views, partitioning strategies, bitmapped indexes, and parallel transactions and ETL tools. Excellent knowledge of operating system scripting and clustering. Expert with database management, monitoring and tuning tools. Must be a high energy team player with a positive working attitude and possess excellent documentation skills Understanding of the retail industry is preferred.
