Lead Training Engineer - Curriculum
DESCRIPTION:
Assess company-wide training needs. Interface with customers and high-level company personnel to understand training requirements, research technical details, and develop courseware. Identify, establish, organize, and implement original training programs to satisfy the needs of customers, employees, and contractors. Lead projects as required to meet objectives.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Technical degree (BS or greater required, MS desired), or equivalent combination of education and technical experience
· 8 - 12 years work experience in Training and Development
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform training needs assessments with customers and internal COMPANY technical groups
· Represent the COMPANY Training function both at customer locations and internally
· Teach customers, internal personnel, and other members of the Training and Documentation department the details of product operation and fault finding
· Identify needs, provide capital budget input, and oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of COMPANY training systems
· Travel to customer locations as required to understand training requirements, and deliver targeted instructional programs
· Work with the Training and Documentation Coordinator to recommend course schedules, structure training trips, and meet customer training needs
· Lead major course design and development projects, and evaluate ongoing programs for effectiveness, technical content, and field usefulness
· Oversee implementation of new and evolving research, methods and techniques related to training, introducing the entire group to these on a periodic basis
· Act as an internal consultant, and help plan the work of the training group
SKILLS:
· Advanced understanding and knowledge in a variety of complex telecommunications principles and systems throughout the industry
· Superior knowledge of instructional systems design, teaching, training techniques, and instructional methodologies
· Thorough information gathering skills, with an ability to train others in commonly used needs assessment techniques
· Well developed understanding of customer interactions including business, technical support, and training requirements. Used to heavy vendor and customer contact
· Superior communications, people interface, team working, and leadership skills
· Excellent organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills
· Fluent in a variety of course development software, including desktop publishing, and graphics packages
· Self-starter, capable of leading large scale team projects, operating independently, and developing new and innovative instructional programs
· Superior presentation skills, both oral and written
