As a Linux Operations Engineer, you will support, maintain, and help improve the Nokia Intellisync infrastructure that delivers our hosted Email and PIM services. You will work with operations team members, including system engineers and consultants. This is an opportunity to have a wide variety of tasks and contribute to the success of our new service within the wireless carrier marketplace.
International Travel – 20% estimated to be one, two week trip every quarter. Travel to Europe and Asia for onsite installations and testing of infrastructure.
This position is located in Alpharetta, GA. There are multiple openings due to growth. These openings include 1st / 2nd / 3rd shift work in the NOC while not traveling.
The Hosting Operations Engineer will:
• Ensure systems are continuously running effectively and meet 5 9’s (99.999%) uptime availability requirement.
• Provide immediate response to unscheduled interruptions to restore service as quickly as possible.
• Manage, enhance, and customize predictive analysis tools in support of operational metrics and objectives.
• Develop software scripts, reports, and project plans to assist in system monitoring and management.
• Perform, document, test and benchmark modifications for new systems and new monitoring standards.
• Continuously optimize systems monitoring, workflow, and operational policies and procedures.
• Provide after hours on-call support on a rotating basis with other staff members to ensure a 24x7 Carrier Class service operation.
Requirements:
• Linux networking and administration
• SNMP, both device and agent side expertise.
• SQL and/or Perl scripting skill.
• General knowledge of RDBMS, triggers, stored procedures, basic DBA activities
• E-mail systems and protocols (POP, SMTP, IMAP)
• Network infrastructure design, installation, troubleshooting
• Large scale deployment, monitoring, administration, troubleshooting
• Storage systems
• Scripting (Perl, ASP, JSP, etc.)
• Highly motivated self-starter
• Strong analytical/problem solving
• Excellent communication both verbal and written

• Remedy
• Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Sybase ASA, MySQL, or other database knowledge
• Nagios
• Microsoft Exchange administration

• Web server administration (IIS, Apache)
• BS in Computer Science or, equivalent professional experience
