Several Openings – Linux Systems Administrator (jr, mid, & sr)

 

We have a very solid client in the Healthcare/Medical Information Systems Industry.  Due to steady growth in their business, they are seeking several full time perm hires and have asked Dulles Consulting to provide Human Resources Search Help in order to fill these PERM positions.  Located in the Reston Virginia area they have an exciting Linux/Unix environment to support/work in as well as an existing team of Sys Admins that you would join.  They offer a competitive compensation and benefit package in addition to great career growth potential.

 

As Linux System Administrator you will be responsible for:

· Performing Linux technical analysis and operational support of Linux environments.

· Operation and maintenance of operating systems including application of patches and upgrades. 

· Analysis of logs and information to solve system problems

· Hardware / OS performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions.

· Script development to automate processes and monitor system performance.

· Data backup and disaster recovery process. 

· General troubleshooting and customer support. 

· All phases of environment life cycle. Includes hardware setup, configuration, capacity planning.


Requirements:

· 1 – 3 + years of Linux Experience

· Strong troubleshooting skills in a Unix/Linux infrastructure support environment

· Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics OR equivalent professional experience.
 

Nice to Have Skills (not mandatory, especially for Junior SA’s):

· Remote help desk management, troubleshooting and monitoring

· Experience working in a 24x7x365 support environment

· Scripting experience (ie Perl, Unix Shell, Php, Ruby, Linux)

· Knowledge of VPNs since most of our connections to our clients are typically done through VPNs

· SQL experience with queries. Typically pulling log file information from databases and logs for troubleshooting or overall system health analysis.

· Experience supporting and or configuring major Internet host/network services including but not limited to: Web (http, SSL, etc.), Mail, DNS, NFS, LDAP, databases (Oracle, etc.) and Java.

· Infrastructure support experience with Web and Application servers.

· Exposure to Apache, Tomcat, Mysql, Oracle

· Experience with monitoring tools.

· Networking experience - TCP/IP, administration of networking hardware.

· Firewall/security experience - access control list management, secure remote access management practices, IDS, etc.

· Exposure to open source software environments
