Manager, Web Content

The Manager of Web Content serves in a leadership role in the Web Services department and is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and overseeing system-wide initiatives that impact the MLH web sites. Serves as editor of the Methodist external web sites by ensuring quality, timeliness, and accuracy of the site, and supporting strategies and overall goals of the Methodist organization. Plays key role in development of content as writer and editor. Assists in promoting Methodist's emerging Internet presence through use of Vignette content management system and associated solutions.

  Assists Director with department budget and development of strategic plans. Oversees content-based web projects with system-wide implications from beginning to end. Manages development of MLH external web sites. Serves as principle liaison to content experts in MLH departments, sections and programs. Interacts closely with Marketing department to develop web marketing plans. Writes and edits content for MLH web sites. Ensures content is correct, up to date and appropriately written. Works with outside vendors to ensure search engine optimization of site. Ensures web services policies and procedures are adhered to by contributors. Coordinates development of content for MLH web sites in alignment with strategic goals. Works with Marketing department and makes recommendations for improvements to web site. Coordinates with appropriate departments to ensure navigation and brand consistency across MLH web sites. Implements new web development projects for MLH. Maintains current knowledge of Vignette products and serves as resource for MLH organization. Serves as liaison between end client and Web Project Facilitator regarding development of new applications for site. Tracks web site performance trends as they relate to MLH external sites. Tracks, evaluates, and reports on MLH's web site utilization and effectiveness. Makes recommendations for site enhancements based on findings from web analytics software. Oversees web training and rollout to various departments within Methodist. Serves on applicable Methodist committees. Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality conscious workforce by hiring, evaluating performance, counseling, training, issuing corrective action, and recommending promotion or discharge of department personnel according to MLH Value System.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, or related field. Five or more years experience in marketing or communications. Previous experience in web related environment.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer applications. HTML experience preferred. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to write in clear and concise manner, with working knowledge of principles of grammar, style, and usage. Ability to write and edit content for specific target audiences. Experience in writing for Web is preferred. Strategic marketing and planning skills are required. Must have conceptual knowledge of web marketing concepts. Excellent organizational skills, with ability to independently manage projects from inception through completion. Familiarity with a Web Content Management system required. Knowledge of portal technology. Familiarity with connection between electronic communications and Internet in an organization's overall marketing and communications strategy. Ability to handle heavy, complex workload with major impact on MLH's local, regional and national reputation. Ability to interact positively and effectively with Associates of all levels within organization, as well as vendors. Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, solve problems, and work independently. Ability to produce content geared to needs and preferences of internal and external customers. Ability to understand and relate to and train other Associates. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous supervisory experience required.
