Manager, Web Development

The Manager of Web Development is responsible for managing all technical aspects of Web site technology at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Serves as technical lead in implementation and support of Web software, including all Vignette software. Plays key role in development of Web applications. Oversees the technical implementation, enhancement and maintenance of Web sites and the execution of software installation and upgrades. Analyzes site performance and monitors system health. Works with Information Systems to monitor server and database usage. Assists in promoting MLH’s emerging Internet presence through use of Vignette content management system and associated solutions. 

Supervises Web Developer on a daily basis.

Oversees development, maintenance and organization of the code library.



Identifies key technical issues and recommends possible solutions.



Acts as the technical lead on complex projects and develops Web-based front-end applications.



Investigates system, errors, performs backups, makes appropriate recommendations and ensures user accessibility and site performance.



Oversees the development and implementation of Web sites through the use of 3rd party technology, such as application servers, network terminology, Web servers, JAVA terminology, LDAP and databases.



Plays major role in testing Vignette-related applications and 3rd party solutions.



Understands Vignette and other software-related applications need to effectively perform job functions.



Maintains and develops competent, productive, and quality conscious workforce by hiring, evaluating performance, counseling, training, issuing corrective action, and recommending promotion or discharge of department personnel according to MLH value system. Assists Director with department budget by monitoring and providing input.


REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Five or more years experience in JAVA-based Web development.



Three years proven experience designing and developing enterprise class, database driven, web-based applications.



PC proficiency is required.



Ability to author JAVA, .NET, ASP, PHP, CSS and HTML as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, SQL and web services.



Experience in database structures, internet browser applications, programming and applications maintenance as well as familiarity with Internet connectivity issues and web applications response times. Experience with Web Content Management and Portal software required.
