Manager of Front End Web Development
The Knot.com is seeking a highly motivated, highly skilled Manager of Front End Web Development. The ideal candidate will have expert-level hand-coded XHTML, CSS (no-tables layout), and JavaScript. Knowledge of AJAX, XML, XSLT, Perl, Flash (w/ Action Script) a plus. Experience using ASP.Net (with C#) is a huge plus. This person will supervise team of front-end developers, oversee training and technical leadership, and assign and track resources. The Front-End Web Development Manager will act as the bridge between the creative department and software engineers and will work as part of a collaborative project team from definition to deployment. Candidate must possess a strong command of cross-browser development techniques, code optimization, and web design for large-scale, high-traffic websites. Candidate must display attention to detail, be able to organize time effectively, and work under extreme deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
NECESSARY SKILLS
- Expert-level knowledge of standards-based front-end web development techniques (hand-coded HTML, JavaScript, and CSS for layout)
- Strong experience with cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility
- Experience with Flash (and ActionScript knowledge) a plus
- Experience using Visual Studio .NET
- Experience with Perl a plus
- Understanding of XML and XSLT
- Understanding of W3C Standards and Specifications
- Experience with search engine optimization
- Experience working with source control systems
- Experience with Content Management Systems and Web Publishing
- Experience with UI and design
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 year’s relevant experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines
- Team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Love of cleanly written code and attention to detail a must!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly manage team of web developers and interactive media developers
- Oversee development of web pages using web-standardized XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript and following all design and functional specifications
- Act as bridge between business, design, and back-end teams to produce cleanly-coded, pixel-perfect projects that follow design and functional specifications
- Communicate on a regular basis with project/product managers
