Associate Director, Marketing and New Business Development Opportunities
At this time, the Advisory Board Company is seeking candidates for Associate Director roles across our four main divisions. Associate Directors play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s continued growth. In this entrepreneurial role, they are responsible for driving acquisition of new business within an assigned territory through a consultative selling process. Opportunities are available in the following divisions:
Business Intelligence
Compass Business Intelligence is a rapidly growing technology division of The Advisory Board Company that delivers best-in-class business intelligence (BI) programs for measuring and inflecting new levels of performance in healthcare management. Combining web-based technology and best practice support and services, Compass BI enables clients to achieve significant improvements in mission critical areas of hospital management such as revenue cycle management, nursing productivity and labor costs and surgery margins and growth. Given the strong demand for Compass BI services, the business has more than tripled in three years. In 2008, the firm plans to introduce several new BI tools and expand capabilities of existing service lines.
Consulting: HWorks
H*Works is the Advisory Board’s consulting division which aims to accelerate hospitals to best practice performance in operational, strategic and clinical areas. H*Works amplifies the effectiveness of our members’ existing performance improvement efforts by supporting those efforts with best practice research and implementation methodology. We turn the best practice results presented in the Advisory Board’s research into operational reality within our partners’ institutions.
Higher Education
The Education Advisory Board is a newly launched division aimed at providing best practice research and advice to leading colleges and universities on strategic, management and operational issues facing higher education today, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Specific responsibilities of the Associate Director role: Develop and execute strategic plan for selling services within an assigned prospect pool
· Build relationships by with senior executives to discuss their business issues, present best practice solutions and convey the value proposition of The Advisory Board's servicesProvide insights from marketing visits to inform future research initiatives and new product development inquiriesSuccessfully negotiate and acquire new clients and expand memberships for existing clientsMeet quarterly and annual revenue goals
Characteristics of the ideal candidate:Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting client relationships Entrepreneurial drive and track record of personal initiative and professional growth; creativity and tenacity in the face of challengesExcellent presentation and negotiation skills; crafts logical arguments and delivers them convincingly Strong analytics and real-time judgment Exceptional process management and organization skills Impeccable service ethic characterized by high energy, a positive attitude, and the desire to go the “extra mile” for both clients and teammates Willingness to travel (role requires 60-70% travel)
