The Weston Group is a Texas-based computer consulting company founded in Houston in 1993. 95% of our revenue is derived from work with Health care organizations, mostly clinics varying in size from 1 physician up to 54 physicians in multiple specialties and from several hospitals. In the vast majority of cases, The Weston Group becomes the IT department for these groups.



Job Description:



A Software Developer's responsibilities include but are not limited to:



-> Ability to learn rapidly. This includes the ability to orient, research, assimilate, and execute using new technologies quickly in the face of changing requirements.



-> Ability to derive creative and efficient solutions.



-> Ability to analyze, plan or provide reports, as necessary, which support current and future projects.



-> Ability to interface with clients for requirements definition and over time to work through iterative changes to reach a solution.



-> Ability to create the data schema, forge a prototype, code the final application, test, and deploy the application to production in a fairly independent manner.



-> Ability to provide software-related technical support.


 

-> Ability to document projects for future reference in manner approved by management.



-> Submission of time and detailed description of work performed on a real-time basis for review and management approval. Further, it will be your responsibility to ensure that all hours worked and billed are correct within the project's approved budget.



-> Ability to maintain a professional, working, and friendly relationship with Account Managers, Project Managers, and all client personnel involved in the project.



-> Ability to meet and exceed the expectations of those to whom we provide development, support and service.



-> Ability to work as many hours as necessary to complete an assignment, task, or project by the normal or defined deadline; in addition to normal work hours.


-> Ability to multitask: work with projects for multiple clients, multiple systems, and multiple projects at the same time. 


Project Environment:



Our projects are most commonly based on SQL Server databases with web browser interfaces.  Other applications span a wide range of architectures including, report writing, automation scripting, Win32 fat client applications, internal web services, and many more. We write many systems integration pieces that might be called ‘applets’ which augment major commercial software products. We typically continue to support these development projects on a daily basis through their full life-cycle.


This position offers an environment with very dynamic projects, tasks, and technologies. Many projects might last only 1 or 2 days, with others scheduled for a week or two. Projects longer than 2 weeks do occur but are not frequent. The majority of the development work will be done on an individual basis within the framework of guidelines and support provided by the company. On larger projects, team development does occur.



This is not an easy job, but it can be very fulfilling. Each day will bring a multitude of challenges and opportunities to prove your mettle; such that, no two days will be the same. You will have the opportunity to truly affect the lives of your clients and the fate of their organizations.

In addition, experience with the following healthcare paradigms would be a plus: HL7, HIPAA, and DICOM. Experience with healthcare practice management and EMR software applications (e.g. MediSoft, GE Centricity, EHS, GE GroupCast, ImpactMD TouchStart, NexGen, Greenway Prime Suite, Emedsys, etc.) is also a plus.

 

This position will work in our Houston office. No relocation reimbursement is available for this position. Travel is not normally required with this position. Outside or new client selling is not required for this position. Management and enhancement of existing client relationships is required.  Applicants should either be a US citizen or permanent residence. No sponsorship is available for this position.
