Mid-Level System Admin

Mid-Level System AdministratorWe have an immediate need for mid-level Unix System Admin with heavy emphasis on Perl and shell scripting.  Responsibilities will include general daily maintenance of  Unix (primarily Linux) servers and Perl based back end applications.  Several applications require coding of new trading files which are received once a week with same day turnaround.  They will also be responsible for re-writing this application so it performs more dynamically hence ending the need for weekly code changes.  Other tasks will include some light website development using Perl and CGI. Heavy emphasis on Perl and Perl and shell scripting go hand in hand with UNIX.  Candidates will go through an intense interview process included several questions regarding UNIX and Perl.  Once in a great while this person may need to help with desktop support.  Requirements: 3 years Linux/Unix System Admin experience Expert at Perl and shell scripting Proficient at HTML and web design using Perl and CGI Sybase and SQL Server Database experience a plus Tomcat and Active MQ a plus Experience with open source software a plus Must be willing to do some light desktop support if needed This person will be working with a Senior System Admin to maintain the current Unix systems as well as re-architect several Perl based back end applications running on Unix platforms. Role is a contract position for approximately 6 months and potentially longer.  Pay rate is negotiable up to $65/hr.  For immediate consideration, please forward Word version of your resume with rate requirements to jackietaliaferro@mergisgroup.com .  Built on more than 30 years of expertise, The Mergis Group is a specialty recruiting firm committed to helping professionals make the best career choices.
