Multimedia Developer

BASIC FUNCTION: 

 



Responsible for the design, development and creation of complex user-centered designs for web sites and other multimedia applications.

 



 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





Consult with clients on the development of multimedia projects and distributed learning, Internet and  CD-ROM applications.



Gather and analyze client requirements and specifications; develop proposals.


Analyze, write, debug, and maintain elements of custom applications and database procedures.


Provide technical support and maintenance for applications and systems.


Actively participate in team projects; provide assistance in area of expertise to supervisor, clients, and other staff; participate in the development of multimedia technologies.


Keep abreast of available technologies, programming languages, coding methods, design techniques, and hardware/software efficiencies.


Perform related duties as assigned

 



 

QUALIFICATIONS:




A Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field and two or more years of relevant professional experience; OR a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in IS/CS plus four years of experience including application requirements; design, development, and implementation and/or maintaining multiple complex websites/database applications following system life-cycle standards and architecture and security protocols.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


Job requires a vast knowledge of multimedia development for delivery of applications via the Web, CD-/DVD-Rom, DVD and handheld devices including but not limited to:



Advanced CSS and template creation

Motion design using Flash, After Effects, Motion and similar

Visual design using Photoshop, Fireworks, InDesign and similar

General knowledge of programming and scripting languages specifically; ASP, CF, PHP,  JavaScript, Flash ActionScript and Director Lingo

Integration of dynamic feeds such as XML and RSS

Digital photography and photo manipulation using Photoshop, Fireworks and similar

Other desirable skills/abilities:

General knowledge of videography and video editing using Premiere, Final Cut Pro and similar

Audio creation and editing

Development in and for content and course management systems

Extensive knowledge of usability guidelines and best practices for multimedia development

Knowledge of Web standards and ADA guidelines

Customer/client service experience

Working knowledge of instructional design

Excellent communication skills

Excellent organizational skills
