Murex Support - Long term contract in Houston, TX

Modis is one of the world’s largest providers of information technology staffing services and solutions.  Currently we have more than 6,000 information technology professionals on assignment worldwide.  We serve more than 1,500 clients throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.This role will require the installation and maintenance of development environments required to enhance/tailor the standard Murex application to meet business needs. The successful candidate will need to partnership with business, QA, Application Support and infrastructure service providers globally. Job Description:As an Environment Administrator and Developer, the resource will work with the Development and Support teams to:· Support Unix-based and Linux-based applications.· Install and configure multiple instances of Murex across development environments. · Pro-actively monitor the stability and performance of Murex environments. · Provide Application Development team support in troubleshooting all environment-related issues. · Planning, sizing, installation and maintenance of Murex and Sybase environments.· Manage configuration across multiple environments.· Coordinate infrastructure activities across multiple Build Team initiatives.· Communicate technical integration decisions, issues and plans with project team. Document environment specs, standards and security requirements, develop flow charts, functional diagrams and descriptions to communicate technical design specifications for environments.· Assist with the control and monitoring of the SCM processes, i.e. executing and communicating the status of Infrastructure related requests· Work with Operate Environment and L2 teams to properly educate and transition environment support knowledge.· Learn the architectural complexities of Murex for support purposes and build a working relationship with the vendor. Technical Skills: · 5+ years of hands-on experience with UNIX including administration and scripting.· 5+ years of hands-on experience with Linux including administration and scripting.· Should understand RDBMSs (Sybase and Oracle) and be very skilled in writing and reviewing SQL· Experience in troubleshooting and debugging complex systems. · Significant experience in executing task plans for designing, implementing and supporting integrated infrastructures.· Experience in source control management software, e.g. Subversion preferred and Clearcase a nice-to-have.· Experienced with Maven and Ant. · Experience in software packaging and distribution. · Should possess additional scripting skills, including perl and shell scripting· A strong understanding of NIS, NFS, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, SMTP, IMAP, OpenSSH, OpenSSL, and TCP/IP.· Good understanding of programming languages:  J2EE, C, C++ (Note -Development experience in J2EE would be ideal).· Experience with PolarLake a plus.  Company: Modis, Inc.
