NYC-Mid Programmer Analyst Position Description:Job management and administration covers the setup and maintenance of offline processes such as backup jobs, interface processing jobs, and reporting jobs. The successful candidate in the role of Programmer Analyst (PA) will be responsible for driving the implementation of the Citywide job administration approach. They will address the needs of the current phases of the project and serve as a foundation to support long term directions and goals. Experience with AMS Advantage 3 or other ERP system (in a public sector environment) is desired but not required. The analyst will be responsible for collecting job characteristics, identifying dependencies, creating job flows and scripts, testing, and production implementation (including production readiness testing). They must work closely with client staff as well as CGI-AMS project team members in order to coordinate the cycle setup, as well as production script implementation. The PA will assist with leading the effort to obtain concurrence with the client and other applicable project management staff for all defined deliverables. A phased-implementation approach will be taken for this project, meaning that for a period of time, both the legacy mainframe systems and the new AIX systems based on the J2EE-architecture will be running simultaneously in production. The Programmer Analyst is expected to gain valuable experience in both types of systems. The Application Admin Programmer Analyst would be responsible for the following tasks:- Review functional designs documents (Approach, General Design, Detail Design, include case and page mock ups) to gain understanding of business requirements- Outline and develop technical design documents for Job Administration- Develop Job Administration Scripts in JCL and Korn Shell (on UNIX)- Analyze, design, develop, implement and maintain customized software systems (primarily Java, with the possibility of COBOL code) based on detailed project specifications - Outline and develop Testing Strategies, and develop Test Scenarios and Test Cases- Drive the Production Readiness testing effort.- Provide user support and deliver user documentation- Work with client to perform data modeling, develop conversion programs, perform conversion tests, and deploy conversion programs - Provide status reporting to team leader and assist with monitoring the timely completion of scheduled tasksEssential Skills Required:The candidate should have 2-3 years experience in system development, analytical ability, strong interpersonal communication, and multitasking skills. Prior experience with AIX/UNIX navigation and scripting is very important. Knowledge of Adobe LiveCycle products, Oracle, J2EE apps, Versata Logic Studio, and/or XML is a plus. We can train the candidate in many of the aspects of the job, but self-motivation, intelligence, and curiosity are key qualities. The candidate should also have positive experiences working within a team, but also can work independently. Good writing skills, attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills are critical. A proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Excel, or equivalent packages is a must.
