Job Category:National Security Professional Primary Location:USA-DC: DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA-WASHINGTONSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Regular Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 03/12/2008Description: In support of a Department of State nonproliferation program, this individual will be assigned at the Department of State in Washington, DC and will focus on providing administrative and analytical support for the effort to engage WMD scientists and engineers in Iraq. This role includes supporting the Iraq program officer on high-level issues, coordinating among agencies and within the Department of State, and other tasks as required. Additionally, this individual may be required to reach out to both domestic and foreign institutes, universities and organizations to identify and solicit collaborations for program events and projects, including an international fellowship program. The individual may identify potential partners, acquaint them with Department of State program efforts, support meetings between Department of State offices and potential partners, follow-up with interested entities, maintain regular correspondence, and coordinate projects and fellowships that may result from those meetings. Individual will also develop briefings, letters, cables, talking points, short-notice background or position papers, reports, and other program documents. Individual will also collaborate and support broader security project teams.Essential Job Functions Assists with analysis and assessments of the management, research, development, deployment, transportation, safety, security, storage, and training for the stewardship and use of nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological weapons systems. Conducts routine system analysis, systems engineering, vulnerability analysis, planning, and program and budget analysis of strategic and nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological weapons systems. Coordinates with high-level governmental offices and agencies to ensure that standards and procedures are current and promote national security. Develops briefings, reports, and short notice position papers, as well as collaborate and support broader security project teams. Researches environmental factors which affect the dispersion of given agents, the expected effect on population and remedial actions to be recommended to command and staff. Provides support by conducting background research on topics addressing information associated with nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological weapons systems. Assists in researching and granting clearance to classified information to users to ensure that a high level of security is upheld. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or related field preferred Two or more years of national security experience Experience working with various weapons systems Experience working with us and NATO nuclear weapons infrastructure Experience working with local, state, or national security policies and procedures Possess security clearance Other Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Middle Eastern studies, Biology, International Relations, Business, Industrial Development, or related field preferred. Two or more years of national security experience preferred Experience working with local, state, or national security policies and processes Previous Middle Eastern regional expertise, travel experience, and high-level working proficiency in Arabic highly desirable, but not required US citizen and Top Secret-level security clearance required (and the follow-on ability to attain an SCI) Solid written and oral communications skills, to include presentation, negotiation, writing and editing Solid customer service ethic, maturity, professionalism, interpersonal skills and diplomacy Full command of the Microsoft Office Suite Remote Work Location Authorized:No Relocation Assistance:Not AvailableClearance Level:Top Secret Create Success
