.Net GIS Developer

We are currently seeking a motivated GIS developer to support environmental/natural resource planning projects in Fairfax, Virginia. Clients include governmental and private clients.  The successful candidates will be involved in conducting development activities (including technology research) involving a range of technologies to support the development of desktop, server, and PDA-based solutions; primarily in support of spatial analysis projects. Note that some projects may not have a spatial component. In addition to programming responsibilities, the successful candidates will also be responsible for the planning, design and development of new applications and their architecture and integration with third party applications. This position supports a broad range of projects and requires professionals with the demonstrated ability to communicate well in written and verbal form, as well as to work well with clients and team members. The successful candidates will have a strong, formal background in Microsoft development technologies (VB, .Net, SQL Server) and possess at least a bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree is a plus. Requirements also include experience in developing web applications and solutions with ESRI server platforms (ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Server); experience with geodatabase design; and desktop ArcGIS/ArcObjects customization. Required programming skills include at least 2 years of experience in GIS development using  .Net technologies (for example C# and or VB.Net) and/or Java (for example JSP, Servlet, Java Beans, EJB, Struts, Spring). Strong SQL skills are also required. Other desired skills are experience with open geospatial standards, open source software (e.g., OSgeo), programming with C/C++, Oracle PL/SQL, python, implementation of geospatial Web services (ESRI and OGC), image analysis, familiarity with formal software development processes, or scientific model development.
