We currently have an immediate opening for a Network Architect to be based out of our office in Libertyville, IL.

 

The qualified candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, capacity planning, and optimization of data network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, and Internet) for Allscripts and its hosting centers, and apply expert knowledge and skills to deliver secure, fault tolerant, scalable, and flexible network infrastructure for Allscripts’ operations. The incumbent will contribute to Allscripts network technology strategy, and participate in product evaluation and selection. Success for this role will be measured in terms of network availability, performance, and agility.

 

This position will:Design network architecture and maintain documentation for Allscripts network infrastructure. Communicate router and firewall configuration changes and troubleshoot system errors and bugs. Create tools to automate processes and procedures. Ensure proper patch levels on network equipment. Participate in business continuity planning for infrastructure. Ensure the protection of Allscripts Internet and hosting center network environments. Research, evaluate, test, pilot, implement and support new solutions that enable business processes. Monitor and perform follow-up on compliance violations, and develop security policies, practices, and guidelines. Monitor internal and carrier connectivity and devices for failures and performance problems, and perform capacity planning. Support, install, maintain, and troubleshoot network devices and related software for branch offices and external networks. Work with carriers to troubleshoot and repair outages. Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotations. Coordinate with Employee Help Desk to communicate status and respond to questions. Additional responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required; Masters Degree in information technology preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite. Comprehensive knowledge of Cisco networking equipment; MDS. Cisco CCIE certification desirable. Comprehensive knowledge of firewall/DMZ design and best practices. Comprehensive knowledge of QoS, high availability routing, and VoIP preferred. Expert scripting experience with Perl strongly desired. VBscript experience a plus. Able to exercise good judgment when troubleshooting telecommunications and server related problems. Able to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels. Maintains calm and focus during emergency situations. Strong attention to detail. Leadership and project management skills are required.
