Network / Customer Support Engineer

ezWireless, a nationally recognized leader in wireless broadband communications, is seeking a Customer and Network Support Technician for its Hermiston, Oregon location. The ideal candidate possesses a balance of personal, technical and troubleshooting skills, takes initiative and is passionately enthusiastic about technology.  The position provides an opportunity for a unique hands-on technology experience.

 

Responsibilities include

· Support and Maintain one of the largest outdoor wireless broadband networks in the country

o  Respond to, troubleshoot and resolve any network outages or performance issues

o  Perform annual physical site maintenance (spanning several hundred square miles)

o  Keep up-to-date records and assemble on-site and off-site documentation

· Perform customer support tasks as related to the wireless outdoor network and applications:

o  Supporting and troubleshooting hardware such as laptops, CPE (Customer Premise Equipment), Wireless Access Points and other

o  Technical troubleshooting and resolution of wireless network connectivity problems

o  Fielding customer support calls from varied levels of customers from emergency management personnel (fire, police) to county commissioners

· Support, troubleshoot and maintain various software systems:

o  Proprietary GIS software and unique database of satellite and aerial imagery, data and CSEPP information

o  IP  Video Surveillance System including the central server and software and over 25 cameras geographically spread out throughout the outdoor wireless network

· Assist the IT department in technical tasks

· Assist with project implementations as assigned

· Occasionally respond to calls and outages after hours

· Perform multiple tasks at once and support varied levels of customers

 

Qualified candidates must have

· Strong technical troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem solving skills

· Working understanding of the TCP/IP internetworking and the OSI model including installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco switches and routers.

· Understanding of the components of a networked environment and how they function as a part of a system: applications, servers and workstations, networks.  Linux experience a plus.

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

· Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office software Suite

· Theoretical understanding of radio and wireless communications is a plus

 

Training and Education

· Minimum associate degree, two years college or equivalent military training

· Networking certifications or training a plus
