Network Operations Technician

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Reports abnormal operation patterns to appropriate support group.



· Monitors enterprise network via the computerized monitoring systems from the network control center. Ensures enterprise is running at optimal level, by reading trends and paying attention to detail to notice possible problems before they happen.



· Responds to all alarms and malfunctions of enterprise network operations, takes the necessary corrective measures and reports to the supervisor.



· Assists in the configuration of new or currently deployed network communications equipment.



· Supports the standard branch infrastructure. Diagnose, isolate and correct routine problems caused by network equipment or communication lines.



· Assists in the basic installation components and the methods used in the physical installation of a voice and data network.



· Documents activities using Microsoft CRM trouble ticketing.


· Handles emergency situations quickly and calmly.



· Patching and cross connections from IDF to end user, installing, servicing, and repairing network components and performing scheduled routine maintenance.



SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:





Education:

Two year degree in computer/IT services or equal work experience in IT based setting dealing with telecommunications, hardware and software along with customer support.




Experience/Knowledge:

· One year working experience in telecommunications or as a service technician or technical help desk preferred.


· One-Two years of work experience in IT based setting dealing with telecommunications, hardware and software along with customer support preferred.


· Basic knowledge of computer hardware such as PC systems, networking equipment, peripherals, operating systems including Windows, DOS and Unix.



· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Service, Exchange Server and ISA



· Good planning and organizational skills.



· Interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels.





NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
