Network Security Engineer
Description:Job Summary:As a Senior Network Security Engineer you are part of a team that is responsible for ensuring the security of NetApp's network systems and the overall security posture of the company. The department is responsible for maintaining security systems, administering security policies, investigating and recommending security technologies and performing security investigations. In your role, the most senior professional on the Network Security Engineering team, you address the most complex issues and develop recommendations and plans to address them. Additionally, you lead cross-functional teams focused on addressing company-wide security issues globally. This is a challenging position working in a fast paced environment, with the opportunity to utilize your experience as a subject matter expert to positively influence team goals, as well as greater business outcomes.Essential Functions: As a Senior Network Security Engineer you will:- Create long-term strategy for the department and communicate it to team members and peers in other functional areas. - Troubleshoot escalated, extended, or recurring issues. - Provide proactive care and maintenance, change control and device tuning.- Create documentation. Recommend improvement to documentation.- Provide Mentorship and training of other associates at the same level or below on processes and tools.- Forensics research/incidence response.- Providing customers and management with RCA and project feedback.- Ensure data quality for periodic data cleaning efforts.- Recommend process improvements and educational programs/trainings.- Proactively monitor incoming alerts.- Regularly author troubleshooting guides, acceptance procedures, and upgrade procedures.- Provide technology solutions input and recommendations to address technology issues.- Identify and quantify skills, process, and tools gaps. Document gaps and define recommendations for gap closures.- Project manage large, complex projects.- Identify security gaps in the organization and communicate these to appropriate personnel in recommendations. - Recommend operations process changes to increase efficiencies; and update operational systems.Education and Experience:- A minimum of 12 years of related experience is required. - A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree is required; or equivalent experience. Graduate Degree is preferred.- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.- Certifications in CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GSEC, CCIE, CCNP, or others are preferred.Qualifications:The Senior Network Engineer/Architect position will be based out of the RTP location. The primary role is to lead a team of network, security, and VoIP engineers, which are responsible for standards, documentation, and new feature testing for a global network and data center. Position requires expert level skills related to the engineering and architecture of LAN, WAN, load balancing, VoIP, and Data Center networks solutions. The qualified candidate should have a proven track record of leading engineers, designing and implementing global enterprise networks, designing data center networks, designing and implementing VoIP solutions, and producing documented standards . The essential functions include but are limited to:- Team Lead for Security, Network, and VoIP engineers- Owner of the standards and documentation practice to support them.- Lead the architecture review board for Network, Security, and VoIP- Manage the teams project work loads- Identify and analyze business drivers and requirements to derive infrastructure design requirements- Lead and conducting in-depth lab testing of hardware, software, and network designs in accordance with properly documented test plans- Escalation support for the Network, Security, VoIP Operations team- Provide engineering design and documentation for new sites- Develop Network planning, architecture, and standard configurations- Cost benefit analysis of network solutions as they apply to business objectives- Evaluation of new technologies - Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and nights when necessary.- Ability to travel internationally
