Operating Systems Analyst (27IT4355)

University of Cincinnati Information Technologies has an opening for a full-time Operating Systems Analyst within the IRC (Instructional and Research Computing) department. This position is part of a team that is responsible for providing system administration for Blackboard, which is the University's learning system. The learning system consists of multiple Intel-based servers running Red Hat Linux and Oracle.  

Job Description: Planning and installing hardware and software upgrades, database administration, system monitoring and tuning, advanced user support, and some software development.

This position does require occasional late-night or weekend responsibilities and will rotate 24/7 on-call support with other team members.  

Min. Quals.: Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with Oracle, MS-SQL server, or MySQL. At least one year of experience with system administration and Unix. The ability to write scripts using languages such as PHP, JSP, or ASP.

The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience with Oracle, Red Hat Linux, and system administration. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
