Oracle Database Administrator
Seeking a Oracle Database Administrator for the following CONTRACT to PERMANENT/PERMANENT opportunity
Summary:
Expert level Oracle DBA. The systems that are being supported are critical.
The DBA should be an expert from a DBA perspective with multiple Unix OS (i.e., Linux Red Hat, AIX), proven proficiency writing Unix shell scripts, Oracle 10g RDBMS, Oracle software installation and patch management, RAC, Oracle encryption, PL/SQL programming, Oracle RMAN backup and recovery, Data Guard, Oracle hot backups and import/export utilities, database cloning, partitioning, Oracle auditing, materialized views, and VLDB performance tuning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oracle Database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery
• Design and install databases, table structures, and allocate storage. Manage all backups, rollbacks, and recoveries
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and security of all deployed databases
• Upgrade, install patches, and manage database performance issues
• Write SQL scripts for requested queries and reports
• Server and network management activities, problem determination and troubleshooting
The DBA shall review the requirements, document and discuss methodology, obtain approval with Management provide the best possible solution that requires the least production downtime of system, and show benchmarks to support solution. The DBA will also work with the programmers, system support, business staff, and management to coordinate and promote code into the production system. The DBA should be able to work with minimal supervision, have strong problem solving skills, and be an expert with Oracle software in a Unix environment.
Education:
• 5-7+ years experience within an Internet-centric network environment
• OCP certification or equivalent, verifiable experience
• BS/BA Computer Science or related studies or equivalent work experience
Experience:
• Experienced with all facets/features of Oracle 10g to include Real Application Cluster/Data Guard
• Knowledgeable of software development disciplines, configuration management, DB design, systems administration and design, remote data acquisition and extraction
• Unix skills, shell and Perl scripting a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform effectively in a team environment
• Thorough knowledge of Internet related network apps and configuration: DNS, DHCP, FTP, TCP/IP, etc.
• Familiar with some or all: Cisco router/firewall, Linux Redhat ES/AS, Linux Storage Internals, ACLs, NFS, EMC SAN, NAS solutions, Java, Coldfusion
