PC Administrator/Help Desk Technician
Arnold Logistics, a Jacobson Company, has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated, results oriented individual to take on the role of an entry level PC Administrator/Help Desk Technician.
This position is responsible for PC installation, repair and maintenance, end user support and software installation. Qualified candidates must possess an A+ certification with at least two years of experience in a Windows environment.
Responsibilities of the position: Install, service, and provide lifecycle hardware/software support of all PCs for all locations within the corporation. Configure, monitor, load software, and support the ARLO mobile workforce. Evaluate, maintain and modify desktop application packages and participate in the testing and evaluation of new desktop packages. Involved in the installation and rollout of new software packages, upgrades and new desktop hardware. Maintain the IS asset management system. Provide support to network users for office automation applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail and other productivity software. Interact with network users by means of telephone conversations and remote-control software in order to provide an optimal solution. Work with other IS personnel to resolve system and network issues. Resolve incidents assigned by the Help Desk. Maintain user documentation, procedures and libraries for installed products. Perform related duties as assigned. Work with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels. Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on computer operation and other issues. Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products. Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed. Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems. Monitor and test PC performance and provide PC performance statistics and reports. Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance. Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal. Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems. Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend hardware products for purchase. Write technical specifications for purchase of PCs, networking hardware and related products. Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs. Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs. Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations. If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors. Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Basic Requirements of the position: 1-3 years experience in a similar Environment. Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards
