PC Systems & Network Administrator
Furniture.com is seeking a talented PC Systems & Network Administrator to grow our Operations team. This position is responsible for supporting all network, telecommunications, desktops and application functions for internal customers as well as supporting our web sites and applications for clients. This role requires a hands-on, professional, customer-oriented individual with demonstrable problem-solving skills.
Position will involve constant business communication with internal and external clients and day-to-day support of our network, applications, and websites. This position requires strong competence in troubleshooting desktop, server and network issues. Knowledge of active directory, exchange and network topologies is essential. This position will report to the Director of IT Operations and works closely with internal and customer staff.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Frontline administrative support for all users – employees and clients .
• Manage helpdesk ticketing system.
• Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end user hardware, software and peripherals.
• Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of server systems.
• Create and maintain user accounts and mailboxes within Active Directory and Exchange 2003.
• Create and maintain user accounts and permissions within RetailTool application.
• Maintenance and management of Barracuda Anti-Spam device.
• Performs standard operational sql queries.
• Performs technology needs analysis.
• Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
• Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
• Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
• Additional tasks assigned as needed.
Education:
Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology.
Experience:
Considerable (5 years) and current experience as a Microsoft Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.
Considerable (5 years) experience as tier 1, 2 or 3 customer support representative.
Skills:
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 2000 & 2003 server and Windows XP desktop.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop products.
• Demonstrated ability to administer a 250+ node network including firewalls.
• Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Serena TeamTrack.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
• Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
• Highly developed verbal and written communications.
