PC or Server Deployment Technician

PC & Server upgrade/deployment Techs needed for project in NYC

Short-term contract, 1 to 2+ months – 40/hr weeks - days

Compensation is hourly as a non-benefited w2 employee

These are junior level position – tech school grads welcome with at least some previous deployment experience. Please indicate which area you are interested in (Desktop or Server) when you reply.

 

Description:

Expected start date is on or around 5/15.  This is a day shift position, from 8am to 5pm, Mon thru Fri (8 hour work day with 1 hour unpaid lunch) . We will need two desktop technicians, and 3 to 5 server rack maintenance technicians for this project.  The work to be performed will be at various locations throughout NYC.  Some locations will be accessable by public transportation, and some only by car, so you must have a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers license.  The basic work involved for these positions will be as follows:

Desktop Technicians:

1. Installing Dell desktop RAM memory, installing Dell desktop video cards (with driver installation), installing the updated camera viewing software.

2. Wait on-site while server is upgraded via remote control.

3. Test connectivity from each workstation after server is upgraded.

4. Remove old software from workstations after new viewing software is successfully tested.

Skills: Microsoft OS Driver Installation. PC Options installation capability.

Tools Required: small phillips screw driver, small flat screw driver, small flashlight.

Dress: Business, shirt and tie would be appropriate.

 

Server Rack Maintenance Technician:

1. Signing in with the site Custodian.
2. Disassembling the IPDVS server rack.
3. Vacuuming the entire inside of the server and storage components, fans, airflow baffles air inlets, etc.
4. Vacuuming the entire inside of the server cabinet.
5. Reassembling and testing (with central site assistance) that the server has been returned to normal operation.
6. Brief inspection of cabinet top to ensure no fans are blocked by stored boxes, paper, etc.
7. Brief thermal survey documenting all equipment installed in the same room as the IPDVS server rack
Skills: Any IBM Sever experience, Microsoft Windows, Minimal familiarity with Cisco hardware a plus.
Tools Required: portable vacuum cleaner, phillips screw driver, flat screw driver, small flashlight.
Dress: Business casual, shirt and tie not required.

For both positions, initial training at the first site would be provided by the PM and Hardware Support Engineer. A schedule would be provided of where the resources should be and on what dates.
