1044 IS Engineer - Principal

Position Description: Under general supervision, the IS Engineer – Principal will be working in a primarily Microsoft setting and help support the Domain’s Active Directory, Group Policies, Exchange, MSUS, Sophos Anti-Virus, Legato Backups, Citrix and other associated systems in a high profile large enterprise environment.  The incumbent will provide functional guidance to other IS Engineers, team members and management staff, providing functional and technical expertise to formulate computer system scope and objectives; develop and/or modify procedures to solve problems using information systems; prepare detailed documentation for computer operations/programs sequencing; perform multiple software functions; and support hardware platforms.  Assignments are in highly technical and business functional areas.

 

Essential Duties:

Domain, Active Directory, Internal DNS and Group Policies Support and Maintenance

·  Evaluate, assess, and make recommendations for enhancing our current implementation;

·  Design, configure, test and implement necessary and productive changes needed to better the enterprise;

·  Document, maintain, support and continue to enhance our Domain and Active Directory;

·  Define, detail and configure Group Policies to better secure our implementation; 

·  Monitor AD replication and all core services; facilitate automation and standardize creation and maintenance of access on network shares;

·  Diagnose existing issues and resolve them in a timely manner;

·  Follow best practices;

·  Produce presentations and report to upper management informing them of our designs and plans.




Exchange 2003 engineering, support and maintenance

·  Perform all Exchange administration functions and responsibilities associated with the daily operations;

·  Manage infrastructure management, upgrade planning, performance issues, mail stores, SPAM filtering, Anti-virus pattern file updating and management, and internal DNS infrastructure.

 

 Citrix Engineering, Support and Maintenance

·  Develop best practices and procedures for Citrix design, development, implementation,  maintenance and support;

·  Strategize the Citrix environment and overall Citrix infrastructure design;

·  Support Citrix at all levels, troubleshooting and providing support for 24x7 coverage;

·  Provide Citrix printing support and troubleshooting;

·  Responsible for server capacity planning, scaling and reporting;

·  Manage general Citrix and server farm maintenance;

·  Research, recommend and implement Citrix upgrades and Hotfixes;

·  Manage the installation and test applications to run in Citrix MetaFrame;

·  Publish and update applications running on Citrix Farm;

·  Manage, implement and maintain Citrix password manager;

·  Manage, maintain and configure Citrix Access gateways with Advanced Access Control.

 

Miscellaneous

·  Cross-train support team in order to provide assistance during after hours of on-call rotation;

·  Ensure that all documentation on process and procedures are available and updated regularly and stored in a central place.

Special Conditions:

·  Two (2) years of verifiable and recent senior level experience maintaining and troubleshooting LAN/WAN networks.

·  Verifiable and recent senior level experience in a large scale Wi-Fi (fidelity) network rollout that involves implementing wireless network technology to a geographically dispersed network.

 

Special Requirements:

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work requirements: May require sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying the weight of computer systems equipment. May require bending, stooping and/or crawling in order to install or repair computer systems hardware. May require hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for taking apart casings, installing parts and reconnecting computer systems hardware. May involve extensive VDT exposure.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

·  A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in computer science, management information systems, data processing, electrical engineering or a closely related field.

·  Three (3) years of Senior IS Engineer or related experience in a large enterprise environment that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform essential duties.

·  Three (3) years of experience working as a senior level Windows Active Directory System Administrator with DNS planning, building, deploying and supporting the enterprise.

·  Two (2) years of work experience supporting a clustered multi-server enterprise Exchange 2000/2003 environment.

·  Two (2) years of work experience designing, building and administering a Citrix Metaframe deployment.

·  One (1) years of work experience with Citrix password manager, Citrix access gateway and advanced access control.

·  Three (3) to Five (5) years managing a group of technical engineers.

·  Experience in managing highly complex technical projects.

·  Familiarity with WSH, Perl, Visual Basic or batch file commands.

·  Experience with Visio.

·  Ability to interact effectively with team members and all levels of users; and to balance customer needs while adhering to corporate and department policies.

·  Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

·  Ability to develop and follow written procedures and guidelines.

·  Experience in project planning and execution.

·  Ability to work well with limited supervision; and to multi-task and deal with changing and competing priorities.

·  Strong organizational skill.

·  Ability to establish good working relationships with other IS professionals, administrators, vendors, management and departments.

·  Ability to read and understand professional journals, manuals and literature.

·  Anti-virus enterprise wide training and/or experience
