IT PROFESSIONAL (ITS - PROGRAMMER)

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Summary:  Under general direction, serves as the primary administrator of the University portal and other Web-based applications; serves as resource person for the development of code for portal based Web applications with database access; maintains Web systems; develops applications for user needs.

 

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include any and/or all of the following:

 

  1.  Serves as primary support for University portal; applies upgrades and patches; troubleshoots interface issues; researches features and assists in planning and deploying new features in current and future versions; assists in researching and supporting available platforms.

 

  2.  Serves as primary Web applications programmer; develops Web applications source code for applications with database access; coordinates development with campus information system and campus portal; develops new and maintains existing programs.

 

  3.  Supports Oracle Web application servers, SSL setup and configuration, and utility software for Web applications, including Tomcat, Apache, in unix environments for Web applications.

 

  4.  Serves as secondary resource person for Self-Service SCT Banner code development and WebTailor administration; serves as ITS resource person for request of Web interaction or Web development.

 

  5.  Supports open-source development environments on campus, including mySQL databases and php applications; assists with the planning and executing migration of Web applications to support upgrades and migrations of development platforms.

 

  6.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

Working knowledge of the portal Web-based applications

Working knowledge of Oracle Web application servers, SSL setup and configurations, and utility software for Web applications

Knowledge of mySQL databases and php applications

Analytical and problem-solving skills

Web development skills

Programming skills for Web applications

Ability to develop Web applications source codes with database access

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience equivalent to:

 

Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with one (1) year of related experience.
