Principal System Engineer

Location: Scott AFB, Illinois

Experience/Certifications/Education:  Candidate must posses a four-year college degree or equivalent years experience supporting and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, TCP/IP networks, and infrastructure equipment, including firewalls and VPN’s.  Must have an understanding of policy definitions for VPN and firewall appliances.  Troubleshooting techniques are essential.  A Security+ certification is required.  

 

Travel:  Some travel (less than 5%) may be required.

 

Security Clearance:  Secret clearance required

 

Citizenship:  Must be a citizen of the United States at the time of hire.

 

Description:  Candidate must have ability to perform protocol analysis with network analyzer tools; handle multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision; perform problem isolation and troubleshooting in complex environments; communicate efficiently and effectively with identified customers and IT personnel; work collaboratively within a team or independently; Participate in special projects as required and adapt to new technologies.  Perform additional duties as assigned.  Ensure compliance with best practices for both local and federal government regulations.  Will be required to assist with the management of the Network integrity and security which includes VPN connectivity, firewall rules, and network security audits.  Maintain software and hardware inventory and licensing.  Monitor systems, construct a topology and network addressing scheme and maps.  Occasionally troubleshoot Unix and Windows network problems.  Contact vendors for service and/or hardware replacements.  Update Customer and Internal Trouble Tickets.  Understand the process and importance of maintaining accurate documentation for infrastructure changes.  Require an energetic, hard working, team player, with solid organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.  Will be responsible for a wide range of IT configuration, administration, troubleshooting.  Need to be a self starter who works well with minimal direction.
