Production services engineer for 7x24 hosted e-commerce environment; Red Hat Linux, Oracle, C++, JavaScript, PERL.
The Production Services Engineer will perform daily technical activities in support of GXS's managed services clients. Production services provides proactive application and transaction monitoring as well as incident and problem management in a hosted managed services environment on a 7x24 basis in support of clients who have outsourced their mission critical e-commerce function to GXS. Responsibilities include monitoring e-commerce applications (Enterprise System and Application Integrator), communication systems (AS2, FTP, HTTP, etc.), and system alerts; monitoring, processing, queuing, and reconciling client transactions (EDI documents, XML, Rosetta Net, functional acknowledgments, etc.); responding to and resolving system or client initiated incidents; participating in incident and problem escalations; communicating with clients and other GXS team members to gather information and provide status updates about incidents and problems; entering and tracking incident and problem tickets; modifying scripts as needed; accessing and modifying transactions in strict compliance with GXS and client procedures; and contributing to the knowledge base of known problems and solutions. Production services engineers are accountable for following production services processes and procedures to prevent and resolve incidents and problems. They will work closely with Client Services counterparts in client support and other teams and with Operations counterparts in data center operations and technical services.
Requirements:
· Five years experience in production services/support in a mission critical managed services environment.
· Demonstrated success performing the responsibilities listed for this role.
· Experience with Red Hat Linux, Oracle, C++, JavaScript, PERL.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience with e-commerce, B2B services, and/or EDI are strongly preferred.
· Industry experience in financial services, manufacturing, or retail also preferred.
· Bachelors degree in a computer science, engineering, or a related field is required.
· ITIL certification a plus.
This position supports a 7x24 operation. Off shift and weekend work required.
